The bus system is managed by the BMTA - Bangkok Mass Transit Authority

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority operates 3506 buses and in addition to that allows subcontractors to operate bus services on certain routes. The subcontractor provides about 4.082 buses and 104 routes. Furthermore, the bus system transports an average of 1.048.442 passengers per day.
CONNECTION AND FREQUENCY
Being the foundation of Bangkok’s public transport system, the bus service which operates a number of 3506 buses both with and without air-condition on selected 105 routes. They also allow subcontractors to run approximately 4082 buses on 104 routes at present. Since the opening of the BTS Skytrain the number of passengers using this mean of transport decreased remarkably from 3 to 4 millions per day to 1.1-1.6 daily.


PRICES
Regular buses have usually a fixed fare, but on buses with air-condition, fares depend on the distance traveled. The bus conductor collects the fare cost and informs the passengers how much the journey costs according to the distance. Regular buses cost around 8 baht, while the express buses cost from 10 baht. Air-conditioned buses start their fares at 12 baht.
